And craftsmanship is not a matter of luck or genes. It’s a learned skill that requires analysis and practice. The ABCs is a Lending Library of information and a great introduction to the basic elements of fiction writing for those of you just starting out. But even if you’re already producing fiction on a regular basis, a few reminders on technique can’t hurt. We discuss nine basic fiction elements here, and will be happy to add more if you have a specific request. Read the descriptions, look at the examples, try an exercise. We want the ABCs to be a useful tool for everyone, so if you have a suggestion for improving it in any way, we’d like to hear from you. BASICS COURSE is exactly that, a course for beginning writers. We know that structure, feedback, and professional guidance early-on lead to producing confident fiction sooner. COACHING is our antidote to writing in a vacuum.
